The Business Bout is a business plan competition that awards an annual prize to the best Pittsburgh-based business idea. The Business Bout is designed to be ultimately pro-entrepreneur: the competition is open to ideas across all industries (anything from bakeries, to non-profits, to high-tech) and applicants need only submit a two page application – one page describing the idea, one page introducing the people behind the idea and why they want to grow their business in Pittsburgh.
Last year, the Business Bout awarded $5,000 to a promising young group who created an online legal notice search engine – FindNotice. A diverse group of six finalists were chosen from an amazing applicant pool totaling 126 submissions. This year, thanks to an incredible grant from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), the Business Bout will award $25,000 to the winner!!
Submissions are due by October 31, 2012 by 11:59pm EST.
They must be emailed to thebusinessbout@gmail.com. All submissions must not be longer than two pages. The first page is all about the idea. The second page is all about the people behind the idea.
To qualify, the idea or existing business must have less than a million dollars in annual revenues.
Good luck!!
Special Thanks to the URA for Sponsoring the 2012 Business Bout!!
